Newcastle Helix urban science and innovation park

Purpose

To regenerate and develop the 24 acre Newcastle Helix site to become a leading urban quarter for digitally-enabled urban sustainability researchers, innovators, businesses and investors*.   

Solution

Completion of phase I of the Newcastle Helix site, including completion of physical infrastructure (The Core, The Key and Urban Science Building), site-based innovation projects with industrial partners e.g. Siemens and smart grid, delivery of city-based innovation and business support programmes (Enterprise to Business) and leveraged external funding from ERDF and Regional Growth Funding, and business case development for phase II projects e.g. The Biosphere.  

Benefit

Delivery of phase I of the regeneration of the Newcastle Helix site, including 95% occupancy rate at The Core.
